Search Engine Optimisation

Search Engine Optimisation, or SEO, is the method by which websites are built to ensure that they are highly ranked in search engine results, maximising visitor traffic.

All sites are developed using several 'White hat' techniques, approved by search engines because they are about creating good content for users and making sure that content is easily accessible to search engine spiders (programs that automatically crawl and index websites) as opposed to 'Black hat' techniques which are frowned upon by search engines because they involve some element of deception, oftten displaying different content to Search Engines than to 'real' visitors,

I use several methods including:

  • URL Rewriting: Constructing URLs which contain relevant words and phrases, rather than ID numbers and characters which mean nothing to users or spiders.
  • Keyword Selection: Selecting the best keywords which are popular to search engine users and also consistent with your content.
  • Meta Tag, Description & Content Optimisation: Writing content which is concise and contains your selected keywords.
  • Internal Linking: Linking keywords within your content to other pages and relevant content.
  • Sitemap Creation: Search engines look for an XML sitemap which contains details of all pages within your site.

If you don't wish to have your website redesigned, it is still possible to make improvements to increase search engine visibility. I can review your current site and make SEO improvements to it.
